After the chateaux, we stopped by Chartres chathedral, known for its stained glass. I have put comments on several of the stained glass pictures to (hopefully) assist in understanding them.

The Zodiac Signs and Life of Mary windows with the Crucifiction window on top
Both windows were donated by the vintners and contain a panel with Count Thibault VI. The Zodiac window odd numbered panels depict activities of the month, with the corresponding even numbered panels depicting the Zodiac sign. (Note that the month of November has the inscription December.) The Mary window panels 3 - 9 depict the story of Mary's parents and Mary's birth. Panels 10 & 11 depict her education. Panels 12 & 13 depict how she was married to Joseph. Panels 14 - 24 depict the Mary's life from the announcement of her virgin birth through the flight to Egypt. Panel 25 shows Jesus blessing a a group of people similar to those in panel 2.
