After the chateaux, we stopped by Chartres chathedral, known for its stained glass. I have put comments on several of the stained glass pictures to (hopefully) assist in understanding them.

The Miracles of Mary window

Donated by the putchers who are depicted in panels 1 - 3. Panels 4 - 7 show Mary watching over various worshippers. Panels 8 & 9 are unidentified. Panels 10 - 14 depict building of Chartres Cathedral. Panels 17 - 21 depict miracles worked by Mary and processions of her relics. Panels 15, 16, 22 and 23 depict the story of Theophilus arranging a pact with the Devil, regreting the pact, praying to Mary for aid, Mary forcing the Devil to surrender the pact. Panel 24 depicts Chartain Bishop saints. Panels 25 & 27 depict Old Testament prophets (Isaiah & Jeremiah, Ezekiel & Daniel). Panels 26 & 28 depict Mary with Jesus and censing angels above.
