Believed to be the dining hall.

  • Panorama of the northern and western views from the abbey.
  • Inside St. Michael's abbey.
  • One of the walls within the abbey.
  • Center (and alter) of the abbey.
  • Believed to be the dining hall.
  • Old/ancient relief of Michael telling Bishop Aubert of Avranches (in 708, while sleeping) to build an oratory on what is now Mont St. Michel. Supposedly Michael left a thumbprint on Aubert's skull and there is such a skull with something like the impression on it (on display at St. Vervais d'Avranches basilica).
  • Inside the royal(?) reception hall.
  • Other end of the royal(?) reception hall.
  • The crypt of St. Martin. (Couldn't find out much about him.)
  • Notice how thick the walls are. This crypt is a major support for the buildings above it.
  • Just what it says.

  • Hamster wheel used to bring up supplies from below. Often powered by prisoners.
  • The Couesnon River as seen from opening by the hamster wheel.
  • Time for another selfie? Why, yes, thank-you, I think it is. This is out the opening by the hamster wheel.
  • Part of what was believed to be the infirmary.
